A few years back the voices told me to build a bicycle with extra long forks. Then they told me to build a recumbent (http://www.bicycleman.com/history/history.htm) so I did that too. Did some late night cruising in my neighbourhood, terrorizing the local populace with these road warrior machines. The proof of concept was a success, so I bought a production recumbent last summer, a Rans Rocket, and that is my main ride. I think with the high performance tires I have on it (Stelvios) I think it is faster than my road bike on a long ride and certainly way more comfortable. Like riding a La-Z-Boy. I've surprised a few road bikers on my commute to work. The perception among many road bikers is that 'bents are slow, but a decent racing recumbent will beat any kind of upright road bike every time, as the speed records prove.
